A free app for subscribing to, automatically downloading, and playing RSS and Atom podcast feeds on Android devices.Please send your feedback, including any podcast feeds which do not work with Podcatcher, to podcatcher@unkemptuous.com - I will do my best to address any issues.
Version 0.3 and up include an example podcast feed from the BBC. If you have suggestions for podcasts in languages other than English (to include in future localised versions of Podcatcher), feel free to email me!
Key features:
- Simple UI, all current casts are shown on the opening screen
- Support for RSS 2.0 and Atom feeds
- OPML import/export
- Downloaded casts are added to the 'Podcatcher' playlist for playing in other apps
Explanation for required permissions:
INTERNET - used to download feeds and cast
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE - used to respect preferences for downloading casts using mobile data
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE - casts are written to the SD card for offline listening
READ_PHONE_STATE - cast playback is paused when the phone rings
