Ob es sich hierbei um eine wirklich gute Nachricht handelt, ist schwer zu sagen. Per Facebook hat LG – nachdem ICS Updates für aktuelle High-End-Smartphones ja schon versprochen wurden - verkündet wann welche Geräte des Herstellers ein Update auf Android 4.0 „Ice Cream Sandwich Sandwich“ erhalten sollen. Frühestens im April 2012 darf man als Besitzer eines LG Android-Phones mit einem Update rechnen, manche Smartphones werden erst ab Juli ein Update erhalten.
Während des zweiten Quartals 2012 sollen zuerst einmal das LG Optimus LTE, das „Prada phone by LG 3.0“, das LG Optimus 2X (Speed), das LG Optimus Sol, das LG my Touch Q und das LG Eclipse ein Android 4.0 Update erhalten. Im dritten Quartal 2012 sollen dann Updates für das LG Optimus 3D, das LG Optimus Black, das LG Optimus Big, das LG Optimus Q2 und das LG Optimus EX folgen.
Auch bei anderen Herstellern wird es zum Teil noch eine Weile dauern, bis Updates für ausgewählte Geräte zur Verfügung gestellt werden, bei LG scheint man sich allerdings am längsten gedulden müssen, bis es dann endlich auch für die Android-Smartphones dieses Herstellers ein leckeres Ice Cream Sandwich gibt.

LG will be offering the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS upgrade for a range of LG smart-phones which were introduced this year. The global upgrade schedule will begin in the second and third quarters of 2012, which will be followed by a global roll out.
During the second quarter of 2012 upgrades will begin for the following smartphone models: the LG Optimus LTE, Prada phone by LG 3.0, the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus Sol, the LG my Touch Q and the LG Eclipse. These upgrades will be followed by upgrades for the following smartphone models during the third quarter of 2012: the LG Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus Black, the LG Optimus Big, the LG Optimus Q2 and the LG Optimus EX.
LG will be taking all possible measure to offer a smooth OS upgrade in a timely manner. The exact start dates can vary by market, as each country can have different requirements, depending on the carrier and the smartphone model.
