Interessanterweise wird das Galaxy S Wifi 4.0 zuerst einmal in Russland auf den Markt gebracht, das Galaxy S Wifi 5.0 in der Schweiz. Welche Logik hinter dieser Tatsache steht, erschließt sich mir ehrlich gesagt nicht. In Kürze sollen die „Samsung Galaxy Player“ in den angekündigten Ländern erhältlich sein.
Letztendlich sind die Media-Player nichts anderes als Galaxy S Smartphones ohne 3G bzw. Telefoniefunktion. Beide Geräte kann man wohl als iPod bzw. iPod Touch Konkurrenten betrachten. Sie verfügen über ein 4“ bzw. 5“ Display, einen 1 GHz Prozessor, Android 2.2 (mit eventuellem Update auf 2.3), Wifi, 8 oder 16 GB internen Speicher und haben alle Google Apps an Bord.
Wenn der Preis stimmt – über diesen gibt es noch keine genaueren Informationen – könnten die Geräte nicht nur gute Mediaplayer sein. Dank Google Apps haben diese einiges mehr zu bieten. Wer sowieso sein Smartphone kaum zum Telefonieren nutzt, sollte die „Galaxy Player“ mal im Blick behalten.
